Unfolding the History of Roulette
The history of roulette is quite confusing because there is no definite account as to its first origin. Some historians say that it was created in France during the early part of 17th century by Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician and was called "roulette", a French word for "small wheel'. But on the other hand some historians disclosed that the Chinese monks from China brought the game to Europe as part of their trade with the Chinese merchants. However, the Frenchmen are credited for developing the game which is now the result of the game known as roulette at present.
The history of roulette flourished during the reign of Prince Charles of Monaco in the 18th century. The kingdom was then suffering from economic distress, so the Prince introduced the game of roulette to somehow relieve the people of such misfortunes. On the other hand, the history of roulette did not affect the U.S. until the middle part of the 18th century, and gained popularity during the Gold Rush in California.
As the history of roulette unfolds, the game continued to be more even popular from among the casino games. Its popularity is so strong that people had come up with two versions of the game. One is the American version in which the history of its roulette is credited to the Americans, and the other one is the European version in which its history of roulette was credited to the French people. The two version of roulette differ in some features.
One major difference is the color of the chips. The American casinos give different colored chips to their players so as to distinguish each player's chips from one another. On the other hand the European casinos give chips to their players with the same color, hence playing in European roulette, one needs to have a good memory of his chips. Also in the American version of roulette, they uses bare hands to swipe away the chips while in the European version, they uses the stick to do such, which is called the Rake. However these are not huge difference and does not affect the game in anyway
Another major difference in the two types of roulette is that in the European version, if the ball land in zero, the player has the choice of using the en prison rule wherein he may give one half of his outside wager or to leave it for the next game.
These are some of the features of the colorful history of roulette which benefited our present day gamblers, because playing on either version will surely give lots of winnings.
